Occupy: Week of Action Against the Banks

Occupiers Move Furniture in to BofA as Occupy Takes Week of Action Against the Banks

As we reported today in our roundup, we're smack in the middle of a huge week of action for the Occupy movement--"Fight Bank of America (BAC)"--coming to Wall Street itself tomorrow in a big action targeting an area Bank of America.
As always, a playful spirit pervades the protests.
Here's a video of one action earlier this week in which occupiers "moved in" to a BofA branck because, as they explained it, BofA took their homes:
As the video demonstrates., the foreclosure issue is a big theme this week. That's why Occupy Our Homes is also taking part in the action:
The housing system built by Wall Street banks and for the 1% has utterly failed the 99%. The banks' criminal foreclosure practices have cost millions of Americans their homes already. Millions more homeowners are at risk of foreclosure in the coming years. And while hundreds of thousands families face homelessness, bank-owned vacant homes fall into disrepair.
Everyone deserves a home and Occupy Our Homes will be standing with housing activists nationwide in their fight for dignity and a place to call home. It's time to take action.
Another great action will be taking place in NYC tomorrow with "Picture the Homeless" conducting a teach-in- and sleep-in in Brooklyn to force the city to take action around vacant housing:
Picture the Homeless and members of Occupy Wall Street will be holding a night of teach-ins and a sleep-out on Thursday, March 15th, 2012 in Erik Martin Dilan's Council District to put pressure on Dilan to schedule a hearing for Picture the Homeless' bill Intro 48, which if passed, would require the city to be accountable for vacant housing.
