Money h...Yes, I'm in total agreement with this.
Money has three functions, a means of exchange, a means of storing wealth and a unit of account.

The reason why 1 Gelre = 1 Euro is because of its transparency. People have problems enough (mostly conceptual) dealing with another currency, without asking them to calculate prices in currencies with another account function.

Although basing the account function of money on an hours work is probably the most rational approach, it is difficult to implement in a euro dominated environment.

Anthony MigchelsAnthony Migchelshttp://www.gelre-handelsnetwerken.nlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-724539185867375742.post-44929129140453656972009-11-05T21:26:15.634-08:002009-11-05T21:26:15.634-08:00"Thomas Greco, even he has not pinpointed wha..."Thomas Greco, even he has not pinpointed what is to my mind the most crucial challenge for anybody wanting to create a viable currency, able to truly compete with Dollar or Euro."

Jct: Tom has never seen the big UNILETS picture. With Africa trading with mobile-phone minutes, Arabia trading with mobile-phone card credits, with Hours being traded in Ithaca, with Greencredits being traded in LETS, the banks get no interest. And the movement to cut the middleman out of the usury is growing.
With Facebook, Twitter, Graigslist, offering social currencies to their databases, the use of new social credits around the world is undergoing unheralded growth but the use of interest-free time-based currency is key.
When the local currency is pegged to the Time Standard of Money (how many dollars per hour of volunteer labor, children too) Hours earned locally can be intertraded with other timebanks globally! In 1999, I paid for 39/40 nights in Europe with an IOU for a night back in Canada worth 5 Hours. You can too.
U.N. Millennium Declaration UNILETS Resolution C6 to governments is for a time-based currency to restructure the global financial architecture.
See http://youtube.com/kingofthepaupers on growth of the international time-trading network.King of the Paupershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14374913605730692218noreply@blogger.com
