Community Exchange Systems and Alternative currency systems for Sustainable Communities
These 1.5 interactive days will explore the contemporary difficulties of managing cash flow in business, high levels of unemployment and multiple needs going unmet. These issues are leading to more people swapping goods and services with each other.
This workshop will 
demonstrate systems which include bartering and using alternative exchange systems and community-issued currencies.

Local authorities, finance ministers, local and national chambers of commerce, telecommunications companies, community leaders, NGOs, trade unions, green and social economy businesses.
Fees:

Lead by: Thomas Greco, a world expert in moneyless exchange systems and community development; Matthew Slater, a leading software engineer for community currency; and Professor Jem Bendell, an expert in strategic planning.
Community Exchange systems and alternative currency systems for sustainable communities
10th and 11th will be an extremely inspiring and empowering workshop n respect to driving change for sustainable socio-eco –economic reform.
The sessions are delivered through a mix of presentations, discussion, panel sessions, fishbowl and Delphi techniques.
Day 1. Theory- terms and examples
The morning of the first day, Professor. Jem Bendell and Thomas Greco Jr., with a guest speaker from a Greek alternative currency/exchange TEMs, will provide essential information, terms and examples of processes from communities around the world for setting up alternative exchange systems.
The following Question and Answer session will provide the substance for the afternoon sessions.
The afternoon will be structured as ‘fishbowl discussions’ or breakout groups. It is expected that there will be a range of experience with the exchange alternatives. Therefore, this will be an opportunity for people share their successes, failures, challenges and frustrations.
Day 2. –Practical ‘HOW TO’
The morning of the second day will focus on the detailed practicalities of launching and running an alternative exchange system.
Where to start from, HOW to start, WHAT to do, WHO is needed
This will include explanation of available software platforms and description by Matt of the software he is developing.
From the extensive global experience of currency expert Tom Greco, it is anticipated that topics, issues and problems covered will include:
         The requirements for an effective and stable exchange system
         Why Community Currencies Often Stagnate and Fail to Thrive

Participants will leave with new knowledge, understanding tools to create their own business plan towards an alternative community currency system that covers:
         Design issues – System Architecture
         Management issues
         Financing
         Implementation strategies
         Marketing
         Obstacles and threats

Community Currency Expert Roundtable (by invitation)
Thursday 11th October ESA is convening experts and implementers of community currency and exchange systems from across Greece and beyond, to compare ideas on how to scale, replicate and protect their initiatives. International experts from Switzerland, UK and USA will also attend to share their insights and learn from recent Greek experiences. The roundtable will be facilitated with the aim of reaching a deliverable action plan.
